Dome Valley on the 13th of Dec was, to say the least a wild ride. The weather did not play its part and the rain came down. Those that have ridden Dome know thats its a techy ride in the dry let alone the wet. If you were getting down the hill in one piece you were doing well.
For the most part of it it was rideable. But the middle section of the track, which is an off camber, rooty traverse with a few good shoots thrown in for good measure was a challenge.
Being the final race of the series, i was out for a win, no matter what the weather was doing. I was in contention for the series win also, so I really wanted to do well. Or as best as I could.
We only got one race run, as the weather and conditions were getting worse and worse. But my first run of riding, sliding, dragging, fumbling my way down the hill, got me the win. Very Happy. I took the win for the series in the Masters Category overall also and got a sweet as trophy.
Cheers to everyone who helped me along the way over the season so far, Edd from Hukkit, Kali Protectives Nz, Smith Optics Nz, Bike Medic, THTC Tim Hunter Trail Co, Woodhill MTB Park, Mountain Bike Rotorua, Shimano Nz and SCOTT Bikes NZ.
Bring on Nationals, Rotorua, Taupo and Auckland, good times ahead. Team Hukkit DH. Yeah Boy!!!
